We all use water every day, at home and at work.

Whether you use water as a key part of your business, or just for drinking and keeping clean, a few simple changes can make a big difference to our supplies this summer.

It’s easier than you think to save water in your business, without changing how you work day-to-day. Here are a few ideas:

Tap into wasted water

A dripping tap might not seem like much, but it can waste up to 5,000 litres of water a year! Fixing a dripping tap is a quick and easy way to save water in your business.

Sneaky leaky loos

A sneaky leaky loo (or two!) can be costing you as much as 4 baths of water a day each. Order FREE LeakyLoo™ detection strips from us here, to check if your loos might have a leak.

Implement a water-saving policy

Encourage staff to think about how much water they use at work. Simple changes like turning off taps fully and telling you about leaks will make a big difference.

Updates about your water supply

The amount of water that people use each day changes depending on the weather, which can impact businesses. We usually supply around 544 million litres of water a day. In the summer months, this can go up to over 600 million litres a day.

Why your help matters

With the hot and dry weather sweeping across the South East, water demand is ramping up significantly. We've now moved to an amber alert level across all areas. This means while you can still use water as normal, we're asking everyone to be extra mindful of how much they're using. Your help now is crucial to keep the taps flowing for everyone.

We're working around the clock, 24/7, to treat and supply water as quickly as possible. However, treated water is fresh, so we can only store it for a limited time. There's also a limit to how much water we can treat each day. If demand outstrips what we can produce, some customers in certain areas might temporarily lose supply.

That's why we're really encouraging you to reuse water wherever you can. Every little bit makes a big difference in ensuring we all have enough water.
